Next up in our River Vine Project Partner Spotlight Series is USG Corporation, a global leader in the building materials industry. For more than 100 years, USG has led the building industry in drywall innovation, offering the nation’s largest-selling, broadest line of interior and exterior panels for residential and commercial applications. As the inventor of USG Sheetrock® Brand Gypsum Panels, a product line that AMS has used very successfully in our Gen7 classrooms, USG has become the standard for the highest quality and best performing walls and ceilings.
Working with USG’s subsidiary, L&W Supply, AMS matched River Vine’s performance specs with USG’s innovative products. For the interior walls and ceilings, we selected USG Sheetrock® Brand Gypsum Base Imperial and USG Sheetrock® Brand UltraLight Panels. USG Sheetrock® Brand Gypsum Base Imperial® is a 3/8” rigid base for veneer plasters. Its distinctive blue face paper controls water absorption, provides a strong plaster bond and resists plaster slide. As the first and lightest 1/2” gypsum panel available that’s ICC-certified for sag resistance, USG Sheetrock® Brand UltraLight Panels are easier to lift, carry and install than standard drywall and offer the potential for greater productivity and safety enhancements.
For the exterior, we chose USG Securock® Brand Glass-Mat Sheathing Firecode X, noncombustible moisture- and mold-resistant panel with a coated fiberglass facer mat to maximize coverage of air/water barrier systems. To complement River Vine’s low-slope commercial roofing system, we opted for USG Securock® Brand Gypsum-Fiber Roof Boards, an exceptionally strong, high-performance cover board that achieves high wind-uplift ratings with no risk of facer delamination.
